greedy mole eyes

a day for a week, day two

It was a nice enough day.

Work has been interesting, not always in a good or pleasant way, but they pay me a lot of money to deal with a lot of issues and there's no shortage of opportunities and challenges to meet.

I've been mostly avoiding the news, sticking to my feeds and the global shared feed in Newsblur. I'm...not really sure what to make of things right now. I'm not really online anymore, I killed social media years ago. During our Seattle trip I got bored and started scrolling the Reddit frontpage again, boy was that a mistake. There are some fun, goofy, meme-ish subs which can be nice, but then you get the usual frontpage content mixed in and it's just garbage.

Herman was posting about infinite scroll being disrespectful to users and it most certainly is true.

So, I mustered up the smallest bit of willpower to just stop looking at Reddit. Honestly, it wasn't that hard. I was laying in bed on a weekend, scrolling away, and it just felt like shit. So instead I went for a late afternoon bike ride. Much much better.

Speaking of, my skid loader is back in service. It has one or two little quirks that I haven't figured out fully since having to replace the chain and the cassette (what an ordeal) but she rides just fine at speed, I've made a few grocery runs and we've done some of our usual short neighborhood bike ride. Depending how I feel tomorrow, maybe I'll do another long ride up to Golden and back. See how my legs and cardio are doing. A little sad I didn't end up buying the Ice Cream Truck that was on Craigslist recently, but maybe that gives me a shot at trying some other trail bikes. I still think I'd really like a Krampus more than anything else, but hard to ignore the thought of a fatbike.

After our ride tonight, we drove over to In-n-Out, it really wasn't that good. Kind of surprising for a Friday since it was so busy, but I think I'm good on greasy burgers and fries for a little bit. I think my burgers are better anyway. My tum will probably regret it in the morning, but it was certainly nice to leave my phone behind and just hang out with my hubby.

2/7 :)
