let's recap
Today's been pretty good.
Kinda rough start with tree people coming by early-ish, a slightly strange interaction but not horrible. Got the big maple fixed up (mostly) and then spent some time cleaning up things in the garage, voting my primary ballot, and then taking a long walk at Chatfield. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Rivian Waypoint charger was both open and free! It's 9.6kW, so after a 90 minute walk, I had gained about 15% charge from when I left the house. EV life has been pretty fantastic.
I listened to a few episodes of the Fixable podcast to help get my brain back into work mode. I also happened to read through a job posting for a role that I think I could actually do which is not just the same thing I've been doing. That felt strangely promising. It's a lot less than I make now, and also seems to be NYC-based, so I don't think I'll apply...but it does help me think through what I can do in my current role.
After my beautiful sunny walk, I got a poke bowl, which has been on my mind for a few weeks - funny enough, during another big walk at Chatfield. It was delicious, healthy, and exactly what I was hoping for. I splurged and got a third scoop of fish. Goodness! Afterwards, I stopped for gelato, which was unnecessary and honestly, not great. I don't think I like gelato very much compared to just regular iced cream. But it did give me a chance to try another charger, where I paid a whole $0.86 for like 1.5kW...and I guess parking charges too. Oh well.
After getting home and cleaning up, I finished assembling some IKEA stuff, some inserts for my bookshelf (2 drawers, a door cubby, and separators) and a lil' wood crate for blankets and such in my little bedroom. Just a few quality of life things which should help me consolidate, make better use of space, and reduce some furniture. We took a bunch of stuff to arc for donations this weekend which felt good too. It's always nice to get rid of stuff you're not using anymore.
It'd been a long day, so I spent the afternoon playing NTE and showed Mom how to FaceTime since we both have Mac now. I'm so glad she's enjoying her new iMac, that was a good idea and I think it'll make future tech support much easier for both of us. Plus, I like that I can actually see her on the camera now, her old computer could only capture like, her eyes and forehead. Terrible! Glad she's done with Windows for good.
Pizza for dinner, more NTE, and one last day of medical leave tomorrow. I'm ready to get back to work, it's been a pretty amazing recovery considering I was in surgery just two weeks ago. My hair's growing back nicely over the incision area and I'm just so, so pleased with my results. I don't know that I could have done it any sooner than I did for a lot of reasons, but I'm glad it was a "before I'm 40" kinda thing. It'll be great once my swelling is totally gone and parts of my face aren't just randomly numb anymore, but every day is better than the one before and that's something for which I'm very grateful.
Long, lovely day and I'm tired - especially my eyes. Signing off for now.
